Cremaster Cycle

Vi o Cremaster Cycle há uns anitos. Impressionaram-me nos diversos filmes (são cinco, embora não esteja certa de os ter visto a todos) os diferentes universos que Matthew Barney conseguiu criar. Lembro-me de pensar a cada instante que o tipo era obrigatoriamente doido varrido, pelas personagens a quem ele deu vida, pelos materiais usados (eu, que gosto de têxturas, fui brindada com o trabalho de um escultor de grande calibre), por não ter conseguido perceber metade do que me estava a dizer.
Quero rever estes filmes, para ver se o meu entendimento evoluiu nalgum sentido nos últimos tempos.

Nota: Tive pena que o Tommy Lee Jones não tivesse sido nomeado para um óscar pelo seu desempenho neste filme. Gosto imenso dele, bem como do Woody Harrelson (desde que o vi há anos num filme em que ele criava a Hustler Magazine, com a Courtney Love).

Tommy DeVito:

Henry Hill:
Jus...

Tommy DeVito:
What?

Henry Hill:
Just... ya know... you're funny.

Tommy DeVito:
You mean, let me understand this cause, ya know maybe it's me, I'm a little fucked up maybe, but I'm funny how, I mean funny like I'm a clown, I amuse you? I make you laugh, I'm here to fuckin' amuse you? What do you mean funny, funny how? How am I funny?

Henry Hill:
Just... you know, how you tell the story, what?

Tommy DeVito:
No, no, I don't know, you said it. How do I know? You said I'm funny. How the fuck am I funny, what the fuck is so funny about me? Tell me, tell me what's funny!

Henry Hill:
[long pause] Get the fuck out of here, Tommy!

Tommy DeVito:
[everyone laughs] Ya motherfucker! I almost had him, I almost had him. Ya stuttering prick ya. Frankie, was he shaking? I wonder about you sometimes, Henry. You may fold under questioning.

Mais do que um homem endurecido pelas vicissitudes da vida ou aridez do meio onde tenta sobreviver, eu vi um homem incapaz de experimentar pelos seus semelhantes nada além de desprezo, passível de transformar-se em ódio no caso de haver tentativa de interacção. Investiu-se a si próprio de uma condição de superioridade que irá ditar-lhe a incapacidade de lidar com a imperfeição e, por conseguinte, um percurso de solidão.

Gostei do filme, sendo impossível dissociar-lhe a nostalgia de rever Marrakech e de ouvir um pouco de árabe. Tenho umas saudades incomensuráveis deste país.
Será que estou sob escuta por receber chamadas de Marrocos?

Sweeney Todd, de Tim Burton

Sweeney Todd: "How about a shave?"

Uma vez mais, vergo-me perante Tim Burton, em agradecimento por partilhar comigo a sua obra e ser tão bom naquilo que faz. Depois de filmes como a Expiação, ou o Sonho de Cassandra (a desilusão de Woody Allen) vivi os esguichos de sangue da jugular como uma catarse.
Foi um prazer ver e ouvir (trata-se de um musical) a dupla de protagonistas, Johnny Depp e Helena Bonham Carter - nada mais nada menos do que os meus actores favoritos em ambos os géneros.
O filme raia a perfeição.

Ontem fui ver o filme Atonement, de Joe Wright. Olhei várias vezes para o relógio; cruzei e descruzei as pernas outras tantas.
